Chub like to live close to snags, for example overhanging trees. This makes the feel more secure from predators. Chub are traditionally a river fish but have been known to grow big in lakes,
It is best to use fairly stout tackle as you will often need to hook and hold them to prvent them getting into snags. The rod tip however, needs to be sensitive as often they will register a tiny bite especially in cold weather.
